Yvonne A. Foote, 88

Feb 18, 2024

WAREHAM – Yvonne A. Foote, 88, of Wareham, died Thursday, February 15, 2024 at Sippican Healthcare Center in Marion.

Married to the love of her life Cecil in 1959, Yvonne and Cecil moved to Wareham that same year to start their family, and it’s where she remained for 65 years. The only exception being time spent in their favorite place, their property in Cutler, Maine.

She worked and retired from the UMass cranberry experiment station as a bookkeeper where her husband Cecil also worked.

If you were looking for Yvonne, you might find her at a yard sale or rummage sale, parked down at Onset pier or Little Harbor beach in her lighthouse jacket reading a book, with her grandkids at Hiller Farm in Rochester, out to lunch or playing cards with her friends or at various ice cream shops to get her favorite, maple walnut on a sugar cone. She enjoyed spending time at the Emmanuel Church of Nazarene where she was a devoted and longtime member. Outside of Sunday services she loved to make the bulletins, fold programs, work in the clothing room, and assist with various missionary programs. She was always collecting toiletries, clothing, small toys, and various other items to send care packages to children in need. She had many collections of her own including thimbles, stamps, coins, salt & pepper shakers, and Avon bottles.

Yvonne was the most dependable sister, parent, god parent, grandparent, and friend. She could always be counted on for anything, as long as you waited for her to have her two cups of coffee first. She never missed an event, milestone, or small moment. Her family always knew on Christmas she had a fresh package of socks and underwear for everyone. To be loved by her was to be given a package of socks and to be called at least 3 incorrect names before she got to yours. This stretched far beyond her immediate family. Yvonne has many unofficial kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews and every single one of them knew to never sit on her left side.

There is no doubt that the 88 years Yvonne spent on this earth she lived the most beautiful and full life. She devoted her life to spreading as much love and companionship as she could. She overcame multiple cancer battles with so much grace and strength, many people may not even know they occurred. She lived almost 30 years without Cecil, we know in our hearts that they had the most joyful reunion and are finally together again taking their night ride in the woods. Yvonne will be remembered for her heart, her love for her family, friends and church, butterflies and puffins, lighthouses, her love for the color purple and her disdain for the color yellow. But most importantly the light, love, and happiness she embodied and passed onto everyone she ever met. Her family hopes that those who wish to honor her life will continue to spread love, give back to others, and always provide a listening ear to those who need it. Donations can be made in her memory to Turning Point of Wareham, an organization she cared deeply about.

Survivors include her children, Marlene Jones, Jeffrey Foote and his wife Marie, and Gordon Foote and his wife Kim all of Wareham; her sister, Claire Seifert of W.
