UPDATE: One dead after accident at industrial plant

A 56 year-old man died after an accident in the loading dock area of Chatham Village Foods on Kendrick Road this morning, according to the Wareham Police Department. 

According to the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office, the man, who the office described as a worker, was found pinned behind a tractor trailer with life-threatening injuries. The police department, Wareham Fire Department and Wareham EMS responded to the scene shortly after 9:43 a.m. The man was pronounced dead at 9:54 a.m.

A representative for the Massachusetts State Police called the incident a "crash at Kendrick Road." Earlier this morning, support was called for a "code 16 fatal" incident shortly after 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, according to police scanner data. 

According to the state police department, it is assisting the Plymouth County State Police Detectives Unit, Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section regarding the crash.

Authorities are not currently identifying the man and are awaiting notification of his next of kin. 

The incident remains under investigation by the Wareham Police Department and state police detectives with the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office. 

The accident occurred at an office of The Marzetti Company, which owns Chatham Village Croutons. A Cape Cod Express truck was seen next to the building.

A manager from Cape Cod Express declined to comment. A representative from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, which inspects and examines workplace safety, said it launched an investigation with Chatham Village Foods into the incident.
