Oh shoot! Here's where the Vikings basketball teams shake out in the tournament
The Viking's basketball season isn't over yet.
The Wareham High School boys and girls basketball teams learned their postseason fates Saturday, Feb. 21 earning spots in the state tournament field and setting up home game spots.
The Vikings boys managed the No. 7 seed in Division 4 after finishing the regular season at 16-4. Wareham closed the year on a five-game winning streak.
The Vikings will host a game against either Quaboag Regional Middle High School or Tech Boston Academy Saturday, Feb. 28 at 6 p.m. If they win they will advance to the round of 16.
On the girls side, Wareham cinched the No. 12 seed in Division 4 with a 14-6 record. The team will face off at home against Brook Charter Friday, Feb. 27 at 6 p.m.
Both teams benefited from strong late-season play to solidify their tournament positions. Coaches said the focus now shifts to preparation and maintaining intensity as the playoff season gets started.
Times and dates of the matches are subject to change pending snow removal and power restoration progress following the historic Monday, Feb. 23 snowstorm.
