Bridgette T. (Flaherty) Sheridan, 64

WAREHAM – Bridgette T. (Flaherty) Sheridan, 64, of Wareham, died Friday, February 16, 2024 at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River unexpectedly.  She was the wife of Philip H. Sheridan.

Born in Wareham, she was the daughter of the late Dorothy (Mestieri) and William A. Flaherty, Sr.  Bridgette graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Kingston and received her bachelor’s degree from Bridgewater State University.  She worked as an employment counselor for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Having been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis while in her 20’s, Bridgette never let her illness prevent her from enjoying life.  Bridgette took trips to Italy with her mother and sisters, and she and Phil took trips to Rome and Paris.  Bridgette enjoyed Phil’s Goldwing motorcycle.  They eventually took 4 trips on the bike totaling more than 28,000 miles to all 49 states on the North American continent.  The longest of the 4 trips was 10,700 miles from Wareham to the Arctic Circle in Alaska and back.  She completed the 50-state tour when she and Phil flew to Hawaii.  Bridgette, with Phil’s help, also completed the New York City marathon.

Bridgette was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church in Wareham where she also served as a lector.

Survivors include her husband Philip of Wareham; her siblings, William Flaherty, Jr. of Rochester, Michael Flaherty of Ft. Myers, FL and Daniel Flaherty of West Wareham, Kathleen Lyczynski of Halifax, Noreen Carey and Anne Berriault of Wareham.  Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. from Chapman Funerals & Cremations – Wareham, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28), Wareham followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, 94 High St., Wareham a 10:00 a.m.  Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Wareham.  Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
