Tigers Cheer sees success in Salem, next stop Disney

Feb 28, 2024

On Saturday, Feb. 24, Wareham Tigers Cheer Athletics teams competed in a small invitational known as the “Salem Bid Bash,” where Wareham team SPIRIT earned first place with three “hit zero” performances, meaning they received no deductions.

Teams EMPOWER and INSPIR3 were also present, with INSPIR3 facing the challenge of last minute routine changes when two athletes were unable to make it due to illness and injury.

President Damon Solomon said all the teams did well, adding how the invitational was a last minute change in schedule from a varsity competition that would cost too much for the program.

Solomon said the program is considering removing the games from the schedule completely next year.

However, the focus now is on the upcoming Quest Recreational Championship at Disney World, which is the most competitive season event for youth and recreational cheer.

Both SPIRIT and INSPIR3 will head to Florida on Thursday, March 7.

Solomon said while parents are responsible for the cost of travel and competitions, fundraising helps the program keep those fees down while also providing opportunities to those who may not have the money at all.

Those interested in donating can do so on the organization's website at warehamtigerscheerathletics.org.

In addition to supporting families, funds will help sustain the program such as with the purchasing of new equipment for the young athletes.
