They shoot, they score: Knights of Columbus holds hoop shoot

Jan 29, 2024

Only two hoopers showed up for the Knights of Columbus free throw contest held Sunday, Jan. 28, but each made their shots to advance to the next round of the competition.

The Wareham Council of the Knights of Columbus set up the competition at the Gleason Family YMCA, and held both the council level and the district level challenges on that day.

Alhena Morrison made 13 out of 15 shots at the council level, and 17 out of 25 at the district level.

Morrison had a well drilled shot, and said she had been in basketball since she was in kindergarten.

Liam Cassidy made nine out of 15 shots at the council level, and 14 out of 25 for the district.

Cassidy hadn't planned to attend the day's event, but came to the Gleason Family YMCA for its open gym hours and found out it was happening.

The regional competition will be held on March 23, and both hoopers are eligible for that contest.
