The race is on: Ballot finalized for local elections

Mar 22, 2024

Of the candidates who returned nomination papers for local races, all have been certified and confirmed for the ballot.

Former Select Board member Brenda Eckstrom and Planning Board member Sherry Quirk will contest one another for a three year seat on the Select Board.

A two year seat for the Select Board will see a four-way contest: former Wareham Courier Editor Sarah Corbitt, former planning department intern Jared Fredrickson, Better Way Primary Care practice manager Russel Kriehn and Onset Cape Verdean Festival Association president Deneen Rose will all be on the ballot.

Eckstrom will contest incumbents Apryl Rossi and Geoffrey Swett for one of the two available seats on the School Committee, incumbents John Donahue and Steve Curry for one of the two available seats on the Board of Assessors and incumbent Sandra Slavin for a Sewer User seat on the Sewer Commission.

Eckstrom, Jim Munise and William Silvia will all run for a one year term on the Housing Authority.

Three races on the ballot will be unopposed: former Town Moderator Claire Smith will run for the Deputy Moderator position, incumbent James Giberti will run for the Non Sewer User seat on the Sewer Commission and incumbent Dennis Praino will run for a five year term on the Housing Authority.

While the Town Clerk’s office has certified these candidates’ nomination papers, there is a Thursday, April 4 deadline for filing objections or withdrawals from the race.
