Getting coffee with the cops

Oct 4, 2023

Wareham’s first responders celebrated National Coffee With A Cop day on Wednesday, Oct. 4, in partnership with Cumberland Farms.

Events such as this allow law enforcement officials to mingle with and hear from members of the public in an open setting.

Wareham Fire Department Chief John Kelly participated in the event, which took place from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Cumberland Farms location at 2360 Cranberry Highway, West Wareham.

“We work for the community,” said Kelly. He said it’s the profession first responders are in, and they do anything they can to give  back to the community.

Robin Menzel, a resource protection manager with Cumberland Farms, said the chain’s corporate owner EG Group holds similar events all across the country for National Coffee With A Cop Day.

Announcing the event at a Tuesday, Oct. 3 meeting of the Select Board, Chair Judith Whiteside said the Wareham Police Department has a “wonderful reputation” for their impact on and presence in the community.

“They truly are nice people, not just people in blue,” said Whiteside.
