Ajay Lopes, a senior with the Wareham High School basketball team, scored his 1,000th career point in a win over Monomoy Regional High School on Friday, Jan. 5. 

The Wareham Tigers Athletic Association celebrated Lopes' accomplishment; in addition to his role on the varsity basketball team, Lopes serves as a coach for the association's youth basketball team. 

"Congratulations to Ajay Lopes, [who] hit a Wareham High School milestone scoring his 1,000 point during their matchup against Monomoy Friday night," wrote the Wareham Police Department.
