Wareham Police seized more than 300 grams of heroin and $18,000 of cash before arresting two Wareham residents on May 11 after a months-long drug investigation.

Police arrested 28-year-old Christine Quinn of 8 Ladd Avenue and 30-year-old Mario Ogletree of 2 Cranberry Lane at approximately 11 a.m. after the couple allegedly checked a hidden stash of heroin in a wooded area. Police said the heroin was packed and ready to be sold. Police say they discovered 308 grams of suspected heroin inside a piece of PVC pipe that has an estimated street value of $30,000.

Wareham Police Chief Kevin Walsh praised officers’ efforts, saying a significant amount of drugs were taken off the streets.

“This is a major dent in the distribution of drugs that poison our town and disrupt lives in so many ways,” Walsh said.

After finding the drugs, police then executed a search warrant at Quinn’s home. During the search, police said a plastic, knotted bag containing approximately 20 grams of heroin, drug-related paraphernalia and $17,719 in cash was found in Quinn’s bedroom.

In addition to the drugs and cash, police  seized Ogletree’s car, a 2013 Altima.

Both were charged with trafficking over 200 grams heroin/morphine/opium and conspiracy to violate drug laws. Quinn was also arrested on an outstanding warrant. They were scheduled to be arraigned in Wareham District Court on May 12.

Ogletree and Quinn were last arrested on April 20 charged with possession of a Class B substance and resisting arrest after allegedly fleeing police.
