Carole Ann Lombardo, 83
Carole Ann (Cassidy) Lombardo, 83 of Onset MA., passed away peacefully at home on February 14th 2026, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the recently widowed wife of the late Anthony P. Lombardo, to whom she was married for more than 62 years, and the daughter of the late James P. and Dorothy (Kraby) Cassidy.
Born and raised in Boston in 1942, she moved to Ashland MA. with her family in 1955 and later graduated from Ashland High School where she was a cheerleader. In 1963 she married her high school sweetheart and began raising a family in Holliston MA. She was a devoted mother who focused her time and attention on her family, always putting them first, and found strength in the bonds she shared with her siblings. Her overwhelming kindness extended to many, but notably to her sons’ friends who could always find a seat at the dinner table or a couch to crash on. They all affectionately referred to her as “mom”.
Carole raised Lhasa Apso dogs for several years and eventually took on a career in banking. After raising three boys and retiring in Onset, there’s nothing she treasured more than visiting or chatting with her 5 granddaughters whom she loved beyond compare. She also found great joy in the adorable silliness of her 2 great-grandsons.
She was a devout Catholic who longed for adventure. One of her most meaningful experiences was the pilgrimage she took to Medjugorje where she found strength, purpose and comfort in the blessed mother Mary.
She is survived by her children; Anthony Lombardo Jr. and his wife Kristen of Whitman MA., Mark Lombardo and his wife Ginny of Meredith NH., and Peter Lombardo of Onset MA; a sister Donna Scotland of Millis MA., her brothers James Cassidy of Onset MA., and Paul Cassidy of Ormond Beach FL., 5 granddaughters (who adored nana/nanny): Hannah Lombardo, Olivia Akers, Caroline Lombardo, Miranda Lombardo and Lydia Lombardo; and her 2 great-grandsons, Kiernan and Aydin Ngankam.
At her request, a funeral Mass will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
